Services for Alice M. Baggs of Garner, who died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Thursday, Oct. 30, 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Clyde Kieschnick officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Beverly Cataldo, who accompanied soloist, Rev. Howard Reinschmidt and the congregational hymns. Ushers were George Doble and B.C. Berge.
Casket bearers were William Greiman, John Streyle, Dr. Marshall Greiman, David Streyle, Brian Kennedy and Luke Albertson.
Burial was at the Concord Township Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner.
Alice Margaret Baggs, the daughter of Lewis and Julia (Venson) Peterson, was born on a farm near Lake Mills. She graduated from Lake Mills High School and spent three years in nurse's training at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Chicago.
September 1, 1934, she married William Lowell Baggs at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. They moved to Garner where her husband worked at Hancock County National Bank. They retired January 1, 1978 and moved to Naples, FL. Bill passed away March 9, 1991. In 1992, Alice returned to Garner to be near her family.
She enjoyed her family, friends, golfing, bowling, playing bridge and fishing.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a bowling league and the Garner Golf and Country Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Alice Greiman and her husband, Clayton of Garner, Helen Jean Streyle and her husband, Robert of Rochester, MN, and Virginia Mae Ginsberg and her husband, Dr. James of Minneapolis, MN; a son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Myron L. Albertson of Hudson; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Dorothy Elaine Albertson; grandson, Aaron Lowell Ginsberg; great-granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Streyle; her parents; three sisters, Jessie VanDenBerg, Louella Boehnke and Carmen Lee; and an infant brother, Jessie Peterson.
