Funeral services for Ethel Swanson Haynes, 87, were held Nov. l2 at Hemet, Ca. Burial was at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Ca. Ethel is the daughter of Oscar and Anna Swanson. She grew up in the Klemme area. and after graduation worked at the Clear Lake bakery a few years. Here she met Melvin Peterson and married him. In 194l they moved to Long Beach, Ca. to work at Lockheed Aircraft. Melvin passed away at an Iowa City hospital in 1943 following surgery. He was 25 years old. In 196l, Ethel married Jack Haynes of Long Beach. The couple retired to Hemet in their later years. Jack died in 1992. Ethel suffered a stroke in 2002 and was left with Dementia. She spent her last years in a nursing home and suffered a massive heart attack on Nov. 2. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, 4 brothers: Albert, Carl, Roy and Leonard Swanson, 5 sisters: Mary Swanson, Esther Etchen Miller, Ruth Bridges, Dora Lawhorn, Edith Lemke. She is survived by one sister, Phyllis Loeffler of Ocala, Fl., sister-in-law Lyda Swanson of Garner, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She worked at the Clear Lake bakery and met and married Melvin Peterson from there. In 1941 they moved to Long Beach, Ca. to work at Lockhead. Melvin got sick and came back to Iowa City for surgery. He passed away following a second surgery at age 25. In 1961 Ethel married Jack Haynes. After retiring, they moved to Hemet. Jack died in 1992. Ethel suffered a stroke in 2002 and was left with Dementia and lived in a home. On Nov. 2 she had a massive heart attack and died. She is survived by a sister Phyllis Loeffler of Ocala, Fl., sister-in-law Lyda Swanson of Garner,and many loving nieces and nephews.
