Services for Harvey A. Sorensen, 79, of Forest City, who died Friday at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Forest City, were held 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 22 at Faith Lutheran Church in Miller with Rev. Emil Martinson as officiant. Mrs. Ron Anderson, organist, accompanied soloist, Warren Torkelson. Casketbearers were: Dean Halverson, Paul Sorensen, Tom Sorensen, Larry Kester, Donald Kester and Eugene Lackore. Burial was in Madison Township Cemetery at Forest City. Visitation was held at the Petersen Funeral Home in Forest City.

Harvey Axel Sorensen, the son of Anton and Elvina (Hansen) Sorensen, was born November 21, 1905 at Miller and lived almost 65 years in that community. September 6, 1930 he married Sylvia Lackore of Hayfield at the Baptist parsonage at Albert Lea, Minn. They farmed in the Miller area until they retired in 1974 and moved into Forest City.

Harvey was a director on the board of the Miller Telephone Company for 25 years, served two terms on the Farmers Coop Elevator Board in Garner and was interested in community affairs. He was a member of the Forest City Senior Citizens "Kum Along Club," belonged to the "Prayer Key Family," and was supportive of Church related ministries. Daily, morning and evening devotions were important to Harvey.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Sorensen; two sisters, Mrs. Halvor (Mabel) Pederson of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Mrs. Ernest (Ida) Halverson of Mason City; one brother, Merle Sorensen and his wife, Vernelle, of Forest City; 14 nieces and nephews, as well as many others who were close to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Elvira Sorensen; his sister, Mrs. Wayne (Laura) Stevens and a brother, Leslie Sorensen.

Harvey Sorensen funeral Monday

Funeral services for retired area farmer, Harvey A. Sorensen of Forest City, were held Monday afternoon at Faith Lutheran church in Miller. The Rev. Emil Martinson officiated.

Mrs. Ron Anderson, organist, accompanied soloist, Warren Torkelson. Casket bearers were Dean Halverson, Paul Sorensen, Tom Sorensen, Larry Kester, Donald Kester and Eugene Lackore. Burial was in Madison Township cemetery with the Petersen Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
