Services for Icyle D. Smith, 90, Britt, who died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1994 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Friday, Jan. 7, 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Tammy Johnson, and soloist Gene Guenther. Ushers were Harry Smith and Gilbert Guenther.

Casket bearers were Wayne Dudgeon, Dr. M.H. Petersen, Doug Nielsen, Duane Nelson, Bob Hiscocks and Wayne Fox.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Icyle D. Smith, the daughter of Granville and Esther Baker Hull, was born September 20, 1903 near Melrose. She attended and graduated from Russell High School.

February 14, 1923, she married Floyd Smith in Russell. The couple farmed in Lucas County until 1939, when they moved to Hancock County where they farmed until 1969. In 1985 they moved into Britt. After retirement they wintered in Texas.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, knitting, gardening and flowers.

She is survived by a son, Charles and his wife, Dorothy Smith of Britt; a daughter, Phyllis and her husband, Robert Korneisel of Britt; two sisters, Florence Meyer and Hazel Schumann, both of Russell; a sister-in-law, Emma Hull of Chariton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd, September 6, 1992; a sister; a brother; and a daughter-in-law.
