Death of Peter Schooley

P. M. Schooley, who for many years had been a familiar figure in Britt, died at about 5 o’clock on Saturday morning, Feb. 8, after a short illness of pneumonia.

Mr. Schooley was born in Luzerne County, Pa., in Oct. 1838. When a young man he went to Wis., where he was married and resided until 1880, when he came to Britt and has since lived here. Mr. Schooley was a big hearted man, always true to his friends who were many in and around Britt. He leaves a wife and two children.

The deceased was an old soldier and a member of the G. A. R. post of this city. He enlisted in Co. I, 31st Wisconsin in 1863 and served until the close of the war.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Monday afternoon, Rev. Cole officiating. The services at the grave were conducted by the G. A. R. Post and Odd Fellows of which later fraternity he was also a member.
