Services for Merlyn Helps, 63, Forest City, who died Monday, Jan. 23, 1995 at his home, were held Monday, Jan. 30, at the First Congregational Church in Forest City with Rev. Albert Snyder officiating.

Burial was at Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.

Merlyn Wayne Helps, the son of Harlow and Dorothy (Marshall) Helps, was born April 30, 1931 near Klemme. He received his education in Klemme and in 1951 he married Charlotte Nuehring at the Little Brown church in Nashua.

He married Patricia Tlach in 1988 at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Merlyn lived for many years in Klemme. He owned several trucks and hauled gravel and also sold feed and operated a feed mill. He moved to Forest City in early 1970s and began working for Winnebago Industries. He continued there for 25 years, retiring in March 1994.

Merlyn was a member of the First Congregational Church in Forest City and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Helps of Forest City; two sons, Randy Helps and his wife, Barb of Grimes, and Rick Helps and his wife, Julie of Des Moines; a daughter, Rhonda Killam and her husband, Gary of Casa Grande, AZ; a sister, Lois Rayhons of Garner; a brother, Harlan Helps of Mason City; six grandchildren; three step-children, Jacque Weiland of Bentonville, AR., Doug Weiland of Leland and Brenda McGrane and her husband, Mike of Carmichael, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Merlyn Helps

FOREST CITY — Merlyn Helps, 63, of Forest City, died Monday (Jan. 23, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the First Congregational Church in Forest City, with the Rev. Albert Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home, Forest City.

Merlyn Wayne Helps was born near Klemme on April 30, 1931, the son of Harlow and Dorothy (Marshall) Helps. He received his education in Klemme and in 1951, he was married to Charlotte Nuehring at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
