NINA V. BOLAND
Lifelong area resident died

Life-long area resident, Mrs. Nina V. Boland, died unexpectedly Thursday at her home in Forest City. She was 79 years old.

Born in Garner Nov. 9, 1904, she was the daughter of Charles and Martha Tipp Ollenburg. She was graduated from Garner high school in 1923 and was married to William A. Boland June 4, 1923. For several years after her marriage Mrs. Boland taught in the Mt. Valley township schools.

The couple lived in Garner, Forest City and Swea City where Mr. Boland was employed by the Northern Lumber Co. He died Jan. 13, 1967. Mrs. Boland moved back to Forest City that year and has made her home here since that time.

She was a member of the Forest City United Methodist church and of its Happy Hour club. She also was a member of the Kum-Along Senior Citizens club.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Norma) Strommen and Mrs. John (Sharon) Sherman, both of Forest City, and. Mrs. Joseph (Susan) Noe of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; two sons, John Boland of Mason City and Robert Boland of Swea City; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Leatha) Newman of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Marvin (Mildred) Foster of Garner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Floyd Ollenburg, and a son, William Jr., who died Sept. 27, 1973.

Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at Forest City United Methodist church with the Rev. James N. Louk officiating. Lindsay Eckerman was soloist and Mrs. Franklin Bienert, organist.

Casket bearers were Hal Avery, Richard Graham, Kenneth Hagen, Marlyn Rollefson, Harley Urbatsch II and Paul Vaagen. Burial was in Madison township cemetery with the Petersen Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
