Mrs. John B. Phillips died at her home in this city on Sunday afternoon May 11, after a short illness. Mrs. Phillips was born in Goshen, Ind., Sept. 20, 1850. She was married to John B. Phillips July 4, 1870. Early in their married life, they came to Iowa and settled at Vinton, where they lived until they came to Britt to make their home.

Besides her husband, she leaves four sons and one daughter to mourn for her. Three sisters, one from Spencer and two from Albion were here to attend the funeral, which occurred at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Cole conducting the service.
