Death of Gideon Minor

Mr. Gideon Minor, one of Britt's most respected citizens, died at his home in this city last Thursday, Oct. 11, at the ripe old age of 82 years. The cause of his death being Typhoid fever complicated with old age.

Mr. Minor was born in Ohio, Aug. 16, 1818, where he resided until 1830 when he went with his parents to Illinois, where two years later his father died leaving him as the oldest child to care for, as best he could, the fatherless family. By faithful attention to his duties he kept the family together until they were old enough to care for themselves. In November, 1847, he was married and lived happily with the partner of his choice until 1884 when they were parted by death. In 1886 he was married to the wife who now survives him. Besides his widow, three children are left to mourn for him, He also leaves a sister, the last of his fathers family. Mr. Minor came to Iowa in 1884 and has since resided here. He was a good man and an enterprising citizen, and while not a member of any church, was charitable and assisted them all and all other enterprises of laudable character.

The funeral occurred on Friday, the services being conducted by Rev. Cole of the Methodist church and the remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
