Thomas W. Mitchell

Thomas Woodel Mitchell was born in Judea, Wisconsin, April 23, 1847, and passed away at his home in Forest City, Monday, December 8, 1919 at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 15 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary Jowst in 1874 to which union 4 children were born, one of whom preceded him in death. Those living are Warren J., Mrs. Charles Watts, Einan P. His mother passed away in 1882. On October 22, 1887, he was married to Miss Siera N. Adams to which union were born 9 children, 7 of whom are living. Mark A. Mitchell of San Jose, Calif., Lloyd B., Mrs. L. W. Cunningham, Theodore R., Gail B., Clare C., and Merle M., all of Forest City.

On the first day of January, 1863 he enlisted in K company of the 6th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and was honorably discharged after the close of the war. The funeral service was held Thursday afternoon of this week by Rev. Robert Larson at the American Baptist church and the interment made in the north cemetery. A squad of returned soldier boys of the late war acted as pall bearers and the customary military tribute was given at the grave.
