Anson S. Doolittle, father of W. A. Doolittle, died at the residence of his son May 18, 1901, aged 92 years, 2 months and 18 days.

Mr. Doolittle was an old resident of this (Bingham) township and one of the oldest men in the county. He was born Feb. 28, 1809 at Pine Hill, New York, and at an early age moved west with his father to Ohio and Indiana, experiencing all those vicissitudes incident to pioneer life.

He enlisted in the 37th regiment of Iowa Infantry during the war of the rebellion and served till the end of the war.

In early life he married Miss Fanny Smith of Delaware Co., N. Y., with whom he lived until her death 3 years ago having been the parents of 12 children, six of whom are still living.

Mr. Doolittle had been a life long member of the M. E. church and died in the faith and hope of an immortal resurrection.

The funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. B. Walker of Crystal Lake and interment was in Bingham township cemetery amid a large and sympathetic concourse of friends and neighbors.
