Clifford Montgomery Funeral Services Held
Services for Clifford Montgomery, 65, of Klemme, who died Sunday at Salt Lake City, Utah, were held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27th at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with the Rev. James A. Laak as officiant. Organist, Mrs. Robert Schulz accompanied Mrs. Roy Arnold and Mrs. Wayne Whitney who sang as a duet. Ushers were Everett Guth and Wayne Whitney. Casket bearers were; Marvin Juhl, George Kimble, Kenneth Boller, Doyle Clagett, George Stille and Paul Halfpop. Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Clifford Leroy Montgomery, the son of Roy and Ora (Christiansen) Montgomery, was born April 25, 1913 near Bird Island, Minnesota and later moved to the Klemme area. October 8, 1935, he married Lela Edith Bachman at Klemme. He worked as a carpenter, as custodian for the Klemme School System, for Lloyd Lau in his trucking and shelling business, and for Hancock County on the road maintenance crew. He retired in January of 1976 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Klemme, the North Iowa Rock Club and North Iowa Men's Garden Club.
He is survived by his children; H. W. "Bud" Montgomery and his wife, LaVon, of Garner and Mrs. Paul (Carole) Thovson of Tacoma, Washington, three grandchildren; Mrs. David (Diane) Nolan, David Thovson and Ann Montgomery; and two brothers Woodrow of Lake George, Minnesota and Ronald of Motley, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela, October 7, 1977; his parents and a brother, Edward.
