Rites For Klemme Woman Held Wed.; Died In Mason City
Anna Marie Griewe Successful Business woman, Died in 58th Year

Klemme - Anna Marie Griewe was born Jan. 15, 1882, on a farm in Liberty township, the fourth of a family of six children born to her parents, Henry Griewe and Mary Ell. She completed her rural school education in Liberty township and completed a course in normal training at Charles City.

She taught in the rural schools of Hancock county for 10 years and in the Klemme school one year. After this she changed employment and took up store work for a number of years and was employed in the Wellemeyer store, first as bookkeeper and later as a sales woman in the dry goods department.

Then for two or more years she was an assistant in the silk goods department of the Damon-Igou store at Mason City. For the last several years she worked at various office jobs in Mason City. She was a member of the Methodist church of Klemme.

She always appeared to be in good health until early Sunday morning, Nov. 10, when she suffered a severe stroke and passed away at 5 in the afternoon. She reached the age of 58 years, 9 months and 26 days.

She leaves three sisters, Mrs. Albert Yahnke of Garden City, Minn., Mrs. Arthur Wellemeyer of Klemme and Mrs. Fred Ortmeyer of Estherville, and two brothers, Fred Griewe of Aredale and John Griewe of Garner, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. William Zabilka of the Methodist church. She was buried in the family lot in the Klemme cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence Gates, Franklin Kluckhohn, Milo Patet, Loren Gast, Carold Larson and Donald Turgeson.
