Funeral Services Held For Goodell Resident
A. C. Carpenter, 74, Died Saturday Afternoon From Heart Attack
Served As Principle of Klemme Schools Several Year AgoA. C. Carpenter, 74, prominent resident of Goodell and well known throughout the county, died at his home in Goodell Saturday afternoon of heart disease.
Mr. Carpenter attended Leander Clark College at Toledo and taught in the rural schools of the county. He was principle of the Klemme High School in 1897-98.
He started farming in 1899 on his farm two miles north of Goodell, retiring after his wife died on February 4, 1923, and moved to Belmond. He was married to Miss Maude Griggs on June 1, 1925, of Goodell, and since that time had resided in Goodell.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of the United Brethren church and sang in the choir and quartet. He also served as Sunday School superintendent and was active in all church work. He took a great interest in civic affairs and was at one time mayor of the town.
He leaves his widow, six children: Mrs. Thelma Schlichting of Kanawaha; Harry and Lloyd of Goodell; Mrs. Thora Trees of Belmond; Alfred of San Diego, Cal.; and Richard of Los Angeles, Cal. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Della Christie of Goodell.
Funeral Services Held Tuesday
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the United Brethren church with Rev. Harold Knight officiating. Special music was provided by a male quartet composed of W. E. Burk, Warner Butts, B. E. Dillon and Amos Hanson.
Interment was in the Amsterdam cemetery east of Goodell and the casket bearers were Henry Christenson, Earl Ruka, Arthur Ruka, Will Schlichting, W. F. Beier and O. F. Conwell.
