Garner - Veronica Thada, 81, of Garner, died Thursday (March 25, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner, with the Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Garner.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Veronica Marcella Thada, the daughter of John A. and Mary (Chizek) Liska, was born Feb. 1, 1918, on a farm in Garfield Township in Hancock County. She attended school at Hayfield graduating in 1935. Veronica worked at Hancock County Co-op Oil for five years.

On Aug. 20, 1952, she was married to Warren Willard Thada at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner. They farmed northeast of Garner until they retired in 1986. They moved west of Miller in 1989 and into Garner in 1997.

Veronica enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing and homemaking.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her son, Glenn A. Thada and his wife, Jody, of Garner; her daughter, Marsha A. Doebel and her husband, Michael, of Clear Lake; a grandson, Derek Doebel; three step-grandchildren, Joshua Schulze and his wife Heather, Danielle and her husband, Cory Graham, and Jeremy Schulze; a step-great-grandaughter, Morgan Lynn Graham; five brothers and sisters, Walter Liska, of Sun City, Calif., John Liska and his wife, Agnes, of Garner, Rosemary Schroeder of Anaheim, Calif., Cletus Liska and his wife, Marge, of Clear Lake and Barbara Nedved and her husband, Lewis, of Garner; and two sisters-in-law, Marian Liska of Albert Lea, Minn., and Lillian Thada of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Thada, March 31, 1998; her parents; a sister, Doris Fosdick; and two brothers, Leo Liska and Donald Liska.
