Ernest J. Seipold Buried

Death called Ernest J. Seipold, an old time resident of this vicinity. He died at Hasting, Iowa. His remains were brought here, his home for many years for interment.

The funeral took place in St. John's church, Oct. 7, Rev. W. T. Wolfrom in charge.

Mr. Seipold was born in Germany, Sep. 1, 1853. In 1898 he immigrated to America and lived at Joliet, Ill. until 1892 when they moved to Hancock County and settled on a farm two miles north-west of Ventura and lived there until 1916. When his wife died, he went to live with his son Carl. While living here he was a faithful official and member of the St. John's church for many years.

He died at the age of 75 years.

The Knop families are his relatives. Burial took place in the St. John's cemetery.

Ernst Johan Seipold Died October 7

Ernest Johan Seipold, the aged father of Carl Seipold northeast of Malvern, died Sunday evening at the home of the son after a lingering illness of some months.

Brief funeral services were held at the Carl Seipold home Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, at 9:30 after which the remains were taken to the old home near Garner in northern Iowa, by R. W. Mansfield in his big funeral car, accompanied by the Seipold family.

Funeral services were held at the old home church near Garner Wednesday morning and interment made there by the side of the wife who preceded him in death in 1916.

Ernst John Seipold was born in Germany, Sept. 1, 1853. He was married to Augusta Thiel in 1875 and in 1883 they emigrated to America, locating first in Illinois. In 1892 they moved to Iowa, locating on a farm near Garner where they continued to reside until the death of the wife in 1916. Since then he has made his home with his son, Carl, near Malvern.

Five children were born to them. Four of them died in infancy and the remaining son,, Carl, survives him.

Mr. Seipold was a life long member of the German Evangelical Lutheran church and lived an upright Christian life. He was a good man.
