Funeral Services Were Held For Young Mother Monday

Mrs. Lloyd Ulrich Died At Her Home Saturday A.M.

Graduated From The Klemme High School With Class of 1930

This community was shocked and saddened when it was learned that Mrs. Lloyd Ulrich, young mother, had passed away at her home in Liberty township Saturday morning.

Funeral services were held in the Klemme Methodist Church Monday afternoon. Special music was given by the mixed quartet composed of Mrs. C. A. Arnold, Mrs. Geo. Schoenwetter, Mr. Art Wellemeyer and Mr. Echard Zeidler. The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. Ralston, who read the following obituary from the pulpit.

Edna Maxine Nelson was born on November 8th, 1912, on a farm in Hardin County, Iowa. She was the second child in a family of six children born to her parents E. J. Nelson and Martha (nee) Prescott.

She attended the public schools at Randall and Dayton in Hardin County and finished her High School education in the Klemme Schools, graduating with the class of 1930. The following were her classmates: Elstina Albers; Lela Bachman Welker; Raymond Barz; Lois Church; Jane Dutheridge; Reva Elder; Otho Keraus; Allan Klotzbach; Valeria Koerner; Helen Lemke; Wayne Pavey; Carrie Swalve; Gertie Trampel; Clarice Wellemeyer.

She is the first to be taken from this class of 15 members by death.

As an infant she was baptized in the Hardin Lutheran Church near Garden City, Iowa, and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Badger, Iowa, by Rev. Olson. On moving to Klemme she joined the Methodist Church and has been a faithful member ever since.

On June 17, 1930, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Ulrich of Liberty township, going into a home where there were three small sons. She took these boys to her heart as her own and for nearly three years, was a good Mother to them and a faithful helpmate to her husband.

On Thanksgiving Day the Lloyd Ulrich home was gladdened by the arrival of a baby son, Robert. She would have loved to stay and watch over this little fellow, and the other three sons under her care, and teach them and train them, so that they would be good and useful men when they were grown. But God willed it otherwise, and she passed away early Saturday morning December 3rd, 1932. Having attained the age of 20 years and 25 days.

The passing of this young Mother reminds us, that it matters not so much How Long We Live as How Well We Live.

She leaves of her immediate family, her husband, Lloyd Ulrich; her baby son, Robert; her step-sons Richard, Merlyn and Lowell; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Nelson; her three brothers, Truman, Willard and Boyd; her one sister, Mrs. Williams of California, One brother Edison Nelson preceded her in death.

The following night letter was received from her sister in California:

To the E. J. Nelson Family:
Received sad news. Unable to take Children so far. Am coming in the Spring. Am heart broken. Must be for the best or God would have done otherwise. Bear up Mother and Dad. It is almost too much to carry.
Ruby Williams

Interment was made in the Klemme Cemetery. The following young men acted as pallbearers: Wm. and John Wessels, Lester and Walter Merkel and Kenneth and Lauren Gast.
