Paul was born on a farm near Garner, Iowa on July 22, 1928, to John and Barbara Osnes. He was one of eight children. Growing up on the farm he enjoyed the animals, wheeling the tractor around, pulling the wagons and implements, riding his motorcycle, hunting, swimming, fishing, and riding horses. Attending Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church and Sunday school, family devotions, listening to Bible stories, scripture memorizing and prayer were all a vital part of his Christian foundation. Having contracted polio at a very young age, "With God all things are possible to those who believe," carried him throughout his lifetime.

Paul attended country school where one of his teachers was his sister Arlet Osnes, and another Melba Baker Osnes. He then was a student at Ventura Public School, graduating from Forest City High School and going on to Waldorf College where he was also a member of the Waldorf Choir under the direction of Odvin Hagen. His love for music continued and has been passed on to his children and grandchildren, his siblings, and many others. Art class was also his favorite, which led to a lifetime of a Diamond Vogel paint business in rural Forest City. As a businessman in the community Paul was known for his unique talent, abilities, integrity and his genuine smile and sunny disposition, reflecting his faith and trust in God. He always had a kind word for and about everyone

Paul was a member of the Forest City Lyons Club for 44 years, being president and tail twister at times, and also active in the Coin Club. Paul and Marty are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City and First Nazarene of Bradenton, when in Florida.

Paul and Marty White were married in 1950 in Albert Lea, Minnesota and made their home in Forest City, Iowa. Recently, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Their family has been their pride and joy. Paul loved to travel. After attending Waldorf College, he did a road trip of a lifetime by riding his motorcycle from Iowa to California on Route 66. Later, after he was married, he and Marty traveled to Nigeria, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Mexico and South America, and throughout the United States. Other interests Paul had included boating, water skiing, antique and coin collecting, rock hunting, building, and of course painting. As an artist he painted murals at the Forest City Roller Rink, various groceries stores throughout northern Iowa and other places, plus oil paintings and watercolors. Many of his paintings have been made into greeting cards. He also taught art classes in Florida and Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Marty; his five children, Linda and Ray Almos of Bradenton, Florida, Rita Anderson of Forest City, Iowa, Sonia and Roger Kegler of Forest City, Iowa, Tom and Becky Osnes of Tennessee, Monica and Tim Amstutz of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren, Matt and Tabitha Anderson of Houston, Texas; Tommy and Laura Osnes of Tennessee, Jamie and Tim Edwards of Thailand, Christopher Osnes of Tennessee, Krystal and Jason Ide of Coon Rapids, MN, Eric Kegler of Minneapolis, MN, Kaleb, Gabriel, and Pierce Amstutz of Brooklyn Park, MN; great-grandchildren, Ashton and Alexander Osnes, sons of Tommy and Laura Osnes; two sisters, Arlet Vollers of Citrus Heights, California, B.J. and Warren Overlie, of rural Decorah, Iowa, and two brothers John and Bonnie Osnes, and Russ and Ardelle Osnes of Forest City, one sister-in-law, Vera Osnes of Covina, California, and a brother-in-law Clifford Johnson of Littleton, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
