Joyce E. Holta of Garner died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City. She was 73.

Her funeral was held Monday, May 13 at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner with the Rev. Michael Schueller of St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating. Interment was in the Concord Township Cemetery. The Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Joyce Elizabeth Holta, the adopted daughter of Angelo I. and Charlotte Mabel Johnson, was born December 13, 1928 at St. Paul, Minnesota. She was baptized in Minot, North Dakota on August 31, 1930.

She lived with her parents in Minot, and moved with them to Algona, Iowa in the 1950s. They later moved to Garner where Joyce's mother owned and operated a ladies and infant apparel shop on State Street.

Joyce was disabled and resided at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City since May of 1988. Eunice Robertson cared for Joyce and her mother, Charlotte, over the years. Joyce was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Angelo; and her mother, Charlotte, October 28, 1981.
