Carl Pearson Prominent Farmer Dies

Funeral services for Carl E. Pearson, prominent Avery township farmer, were held at Evangelical and Reformed church in Klemme at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 10, with the Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg officiating. Services were held at the farm home in Avery at 1 p.m.

Carl E. Pearson, son of Peter and Augusta Abramson, was born October 23, 1885 at Godegard, Sweden. At the age of 23 he left his native land and came to America where he settled in the Albia vicinity.

On April 27, 1914 he was married to Lillie Bates at Albia, and the couple came to this vicinity about 30 years ago and have resided here since, at present they are on a farm about six miles southeast of Klemme in Avery township.

At the time of his death he had attained the age of 67 years, ten months and 14 days. Mr. Pearson died September 7 at a Mason City hospital following a short illness.

He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church of Klemme and was active in his church and civic and community affairs. In 1949 he returned to his native Sweden for a visit with his brothers, sister and other relatives.

Survivors are his wife, Lillie; a daughter, Lydia; four sons, Francis of Dougherty; and Herbert, Melvin and Norene, all of the Klemme vicinity; one grandson, and three granddaughters, also two brothers and one sister in Sweden.

Pallbearers were Virgil Waddingham, Paul Kramer, Bernard Gruis, Clarence Bachman, Alvin Goll and Otis Davis. Interment was in the Calvary cemetery at Klemme.
