Final rites held for W. J. Dieger
William J. Dieger, 87, died Wednesday of last week at Belmond Community hospital, his death being attributed to infirmities of old age. He had suffered declining health for the past three years.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the EUB church in Goodell, that community having been his home for many years. Rev. Donald Thompson officiated and Fulton Funeral Home was in charge.
Burial was in Amsterdam cemetery, east of Goodell. Pallbearers were Elmer smith, Ralph Anderson and Pete Pals of Belmond, Dolvin Miland, William Boller and Wilmer Gabrielson.
Born at Wheaton, Ill., on Aug. 7, 1879, William Julius Dieger was the son of Joseph and Caroline Schultz Dieger. He was married on Sept. 17, 1905 at Racine, Wis., to Emma M. Wahl.
The Dieger's moved near Goodell in December of 1905 and farmed in that vicinity until their retirement in January of 1958.
They were the parents of a son and daughter, Henry now living in Belmond and Mamie (Mrs. Russell) Bell of Mason City. Besides his widow and children, the deceased is survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
