WODEN - Alvin L. Eden, 76, of Woden died Monday (October 13, 2008) at the Titonka Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt with Fr. Henry Huber officiating. Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery south of Woden.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Woden with a Scriptural Wake service at 8 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to HCMH Foundation or Hospice of North Iowa.

Alvin Leo Eden, the son of Fred and Laura (Hauptly) Eden, was born September 1, 1932, on a farm near Wesley. He attended country school near his home and helped his father on the farm. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict from 1953 to 1955. On November 25, 1952, he was married to Inez Reising at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wesley. They farmed east of Woden until 1983, when they moved into Woden. Alvin enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt and the Woden American Legion.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Inez, of Woden; daughter, Judy (Dale) Litterer of Newton, NC; son, Ron (Pam) Eden of Woden; eleven grandchildren, Sara (Jon) Pons and their three children, Ethan, Reid and Faith, Rhonda (Tim) Brown, Jack Litterer, Andrea Eden, Kristin (Randy) Lawson and their son, Landen, Nate Eden, Nickie (Brendan) Greensky and their two children, Eden and Brody, Joe Eden, Kellie Eden, Michelle Eden and Maggie Eden; a sister, Shirley Haverly of Humboldt; and a sister-in-law, Mary Eden of Titonka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Eden; twin brothers in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Haverly.
