Services for Orville F. Bridges, 91, Klemme, who died Tuesday, May 9, 1995, were held Friday, May 12, 2:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with Rev. Jerry Robertson as officiant.

Music was provided by organist, Muriel Schulz, and vocalist, Gordon Beier.

Honorary casket bearers were Forrest Langlitz, Ardell Flaten, Clifford Anderson, Charles Butler, Everett Guth, Gordon Sawtelle, George Legge, Bob Johnson and Russ Thorson.

Active bearers were Stanley Bridges, Tom Thorson, Rocky Bridges, Marvin Bachman, Gordon Beier and Ronald Swanson.

Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, with Tenold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Orville Fanslow Bridges, the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Fanslow) Bridges, was born on a farm near Dows on August 13, 1903. At an early age he moved with his parents to a farm northwest of Klemme. His brothers and sisters were Maude, Faye, Glenn, Irene, Gladys and Cecil.

March 1, 1928, he married Ruth Swanson at the Methodist parsonage in Klemme. They were the parents of two daughters. Ruth died on February 8, 1987.

Orville worked for the Northern Lumber Company for 42 years. He retired in 1965. He was a member of the Klemme United Methodist Church and served on the church administrative board for many years. He served on the town council for 8 years, the Hancock County Condemnation Board for several years, was appointed to the Hancock County Equalization for 12 years. Orville was the assessor for the town of Klemme for 11 years. He was a rural mail carrier for a year and then a substitute carrier for 11 years. He enjoyed the fellowship of the Klemme Senior Citizens Klub for many years.

He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Sondra and her husband, Clark Neary of Atlantic, and Carol and her husband, Roger Terhufen of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Lori, Ryan and Jake Ashby, Colleen Neary, Jill, J.D., Alyssa and Nathan Kirchberg; sisters, Gladys Drake of El Paso, TX, and Irene Davis of DeRidder, LA; and a brother Cecil Bridges of Thompson.
