Emily Sharp was born in the north of Ireland where she lived until immigrating to Butler County, Iowa in 1872.
She married to John W. Griggs, December 15, 1873, after which they resided on a farm near Ackley, Iowa. In the spring of 1885, they moved to their present home in Avery Twp. where she died Jan. 23, 1908. Mrs. Griggs united with the Presbyterian Church in her girlhood, but when the United Brethren Church was organized in Goodell, she joined as a charter member. She was the mother of six children, five of whom and her husband are living.
To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended and like one who awakes from a troubled dream, she has awakened to see life's endless morning break and knows herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about her.
The funeral was held from the U.B. Church in Goodell, at 2 p.m., Saturday January 25, Rev. Hartman, pastor, officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
