Heather Noel Sorenson, the daughter of James and Dianne (Escherich) Sorenson, was born April 18, 1978 at Britt. She lived with her parents on a farm north of Britt and attended school at Forest City. She participated in the Special Olympics and excelled at the softball throw. Heather worked at the Filling Station restaurant in Forest City which was started by her class in Forest City. Heather later moved to a group home in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1998. She worked at NIVC and was very fond of Pepsi products. In 1999 she moved to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. She loved her "paper work" at the Village, her friends, the staff and all of the activities. Heather enjoyed riding her 3-wheel bike around the village trails on nice days. She also loved magazines, music (especially country), pizza and ice cream. She looked forward to weekend visits with her family so that she could go out to eat and get a new CD or magazine. Heather loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and she always remembered to send cards to her family. She was a very caring person and always worried about others. She loved all animals. Heather was a very observant person and would often notify people at their cottage of maintenance issues since she was able to notice the slightest imperfections.

Heather is survived by her parents, Jim and Dianne Sorenson of Britt; brother, Gentry (Renee) Sorenson of Mason City; sister, Nikki Sorensen of Waterloo; and nephews, Dillon, Chase and Caleb.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Calvin and Genevieve Sorenson; maternal grandparents, Reuben and Anna Escherich; uncles, Wayne and Robert Escherich; and cousins, Ryan Escherich and Jeffery Sorenson.
