William Hughes

Britt - Funeral services for William Hughes, 67, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The Rev. R. J. Sigwarth will officiate. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Grupe Funeral Home Britt.

The son of John and Mary Landers Hughes, he was born in April 1899 at Earlville, Ill. His parents came to a farm near Britt when he was a child. For the last 20 years he had been a road maintenance man with Hancock County.

Surviving are his wife, Mae; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Patricia) Johnson, Omaha, Ned.; Mrs. Ralph (June) Saxon, West Allis, Wis,; Mrs. Donald (Mary) Formanek, Tripoli, North Africa; five sons, Sgt. Maj. Charles T. Hughes, Camp LeJeune, N.C.; John Hughes, Omaha; William Sherrel Hughes, Hollywood, Calif.; Curtis Hughes, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Gene Hughes, Downey, Calif., 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Bernice McAttee, Waukee; Mrs. Esther Moorman, Minneapolis; three brothers, Leo, Britt; Dean, Kanawha and Raymond.
