Mrs. Norman Rice

Britt - Mrs. Norman (Edith May) Rice, 50, died Monday at a Mason City hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Congregational Church of Christ. The Rev. Gale Strickler will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A prayer service at Boughton Funeral Home will precede the service.

Born in Britt May 21, 1920, she was the daughter of Nels and Nora Madson Nelson. She was graduated from Britt High School and a junior college. She was married June 21, 1940 to Norman Rice in Mason City. They had lived in Plymouth the last 15 years. She worked in the lunch program at North Central School, was a member of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. James (Linda) Dwight, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Gary (Sharon) Mehls,Omaha, Neb.; Miss Marvel Rice, Davenport; a son Alan, in the U.S. Army; two grandchildren, three brothers, Vernon, Norman and Raymond Nelson, all of Britt; two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Bertha) Nelson, Glendale, Calif.; and Miss Ardis Nelson, Britt.
