Mrs. Nedved Dies; Rites at Duncan

Britt - Mrs. Charles (Lena) Nedved, 73, who lived on a farm northwest of Garner, died Tuesday evening at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, following surgery and complications. She had been ill since March when she broke her hip.

Mrs. Nedved, the former Lena Chizek, was born Feb. 22, 1884, near Spillville, the daughter of Albert and Veronica Sernett Chizek. She came to Hancock County when she was two. She attended school in the Duncan vicinity. Mrs. Nedved was a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Church in Duncan.

She was married to Charles Nedved on Nov. 22, 1906. They have lived on a farm northwest of Garner since their marriage.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. W. C. Hradecky saying the Requiem Mass. Rosary will be said at 7 and 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Boughton Funeral Home at Britt.

Survivors include three sons, George, Charles and Rudolph, and two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Lula) Trca and Mrs. Earl (Marcella) Erdman, all of Garner, 13 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. James (Anna) Liska, Hamer, N. D.; five brothers, Frank Chizek and Steve Chizek, both of Garner; Joe Chizek, William Chizek and Albert Chizek, all of Britt.

She was preceded in death by a son, Henry; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Emma) Metz and Mrs. John (Mary) Liska, and a brother, Louis.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at Duncan.
