Services Held for Hattie Hartzell, 77

Hattie Hartzell, 77, of Dows, died Saturday at the Belmond Community hospital. She was born August 31, 1889 at St. Jo, Iowa.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Clark. She moved to Dows in 1947 from Britt.

The family operated the Hartzell Produce in Dows since that time. She was married to B. F. Hartzell on June 21, 1911 at Britt.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters and four sons, Charlotte, Mrs. Art Joss of Garner, Grace Hartzell of Garner and Robert Hartzell of Klemme, Ted Hartzell of Dows, Dale Hartzell of Dows and Kenneth Hartzell of Sibley. Also surviving are three sisters and five brothers, Mayme Finch of Algona, Daisy Stevenson of Britt, Ethel Johnson of Warrenton, Oregon, Leo Clark of Britt, Ronald Clark of Denver, Colo., Howard Clark of Grand Meadows, Minn, and Merle Clark of Woburn, Mass., 19 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, infant twin children, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the First Methodist church in Dows with the Rev. Donald Harbour officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.

The VanHove Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.
