Hayfield Woman Dies After Heart Attack
Britt - Mrs. Reka Herringa, 67, Hayfield, died at her home Tuesday morning following a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 at Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. B. A. Rust will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
Daughter of Ben and Sophia Nordman Thorn, she was born Nov. 30, 1891, in Buffalo Center. Oct 20, 1916, she was married to Herman Herringa at Wellsburg. They farmed in that vicinity and the moved to the Titonka Woden and Forest City area. They retired to Hayfield. Mr. Herringa died in 1953.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Myrtle) Oudekirk, Clear Lake; Mrs. Emil (Sophia) Oudekirk, Morrison, Ill.; Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Scholl, Mason City; four sons, Ben, Garner; Henry, Alfred and Herbert, Hayfield; 17 grandchildren, one great grandchild; three brothers, Ben Thorn, Parkersburg; Fred Thorn, Cedar Falls; Dick Thorn, Hayfield; two sisters, Mrs. Gus (Stena) Kbitten, Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Fred (Lena) Gross, Wellsburg.
