George McNabb dies at Britt; Rites Monday
BRITT - George D. McNabb, 87, a retired surveyor and construction worker, died Thursday night at the Hancock Memorial Hospital, following a stroke. He was born Jan. 12, 1870 [1873], at Mount Palatine, Ill., the son of Daniel and Mary F. McNabb.
In 1900 he was married to Bertha Stanford. They lived near Wesley until she died. In 1907 he was married to Mrs. Hettie Jollisse. She died in 1957. He was employed by Hancock County and the state and lived at Britt.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Reva McNabb, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Verla Bidne, Iowa City; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Olive Dana, Britt; Mrs. Anna Klingbeil, Woodlawn, Calif.; and a brother, John McNabb, Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by four children, John, Lila, Donald, George, and two step children, Iva and Viola; and three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Flora) Anderson, Mrs. Elmer (Lena) Fisher and Mrs. George (Mary) Gee.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church here preceded by a prayer service at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev, Warren Paige will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
