Rites for H. E. LaRue Held at Osage Thursday

OSAGE - Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Champion funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Glenn Hartong of the Osage Methodist church, for H. E. LaRue, 75, who died Tuesday morning at a Mason City hospital of pneumonia.

Mr. LaRue had been a resident of Osage the past 50 years and had always figured prominently in public affairs. He served as superintendent of schools at Mitchell, county superintendent of schools, city assessor, and was a member of the school board. Schools were dismissed Thursday morning for the funeral. A group of high school boys served as honorary pallbearers.

Surviving are his widow and two daughters, Merna of Mason City and Armintha of Minneapolis, Minn. Burial was in the cemetery at Ellington.
