Claus Tjarks dies at 82; Rites at Wesley

WESLEY: Claus Tjarks, 82, a retired farmer, died of cancer at his home here Wednesday night. Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Boughton Funeral home. Services will be at the Christian Reformed Church, southwest of Woden, with burial in the church cemetery.

Born March 8, 1879, in Germany, he came here at 13 with his parents, Herman and Anna Tjarks. He was married to Tena Peters in 1907. She died in 1924. In 1930 he was married to Mrs. Martha Jorgensen at Nashua. He had served as a school director in Orthel Township and was church deacon.

Surviving are his wife, four children, Mrs Henry (Anna) Dirksen, and Herman, Titonka; James and Henry, Wesley; two step children, Mrs. Roger (Mary) Campbell, Rockwell; Harry G. Jorgensen, Mason City; 21 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs Tena Welhousen, Titonka and a brother, Henry, Dallas, Tex.
