Pearl Smith rites set Thursday at Crystal Lake
CRYSTAL LAKE: Funeral services for Pearl M. Smith, 71, who died Monday at University of Iowa Hospitals, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Crystal Lake Methodist Church. The Revs. Luella Koether and Janet Surdam will officiate with burial in Crystal Lake Cemetery. Boughton Funeral Home, Britt, is in charge of arrangements.
Born Feb. 19, 1891, near Crystal Lake, she married Frank Smith in 1911. They framed near Forest City for seven years before moving to Crystal Lake. He preceded her in death in 1947.
Survivors include four sons, Luverne, Mason City; Milton, Britt; Wilbur, Crystal Lake, and Arlan, Lebanon, Ore.; five daughters, Mrs. Ethen (Ella) Curley, Thompson; Mrs. Lee (Mildred) Harley. Albany, Ore.; Mrs. Cal (Evelyn) Smith, Kanawha; Mrs. Clarence (Mabel) Klasse, Forest City, and Mrs. Art (Arline) Blay, Whittier, Calif.; 33 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; four brothers, Gerald Volding, Glenville, Minn,; Gordon Volding, Crystal Lake; Lynn Volding, Crystal Lake, and Floyd Volding, Mason City; two sisters, Ruth Stevens, Mason City, and Mrs. Ellis Wiberg, Minneapolis.
