J. L. Schnath succumbs to heart attack
BRITT: John L. Schnath, 71, died of a heart attack Thursday at his home here after mowing the lawn. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul W. Adix of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Born Jan. 20, 1891, in Minonka, Ill., he was the son of August and Eltje Luppen Schnath. He came to Hancock County as a child and was married Oct. 12, 1916, to Mabel Draeger at Waterloo. He was employed at the Farmers Coop Elevator in Britt 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Maxine) Benech, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Robert N. (Shirley) Janashak, Bedford, Ohio; a son, Dean, Britt; 11 grandchildren, two brothers, Eike, Britt; August, Marceline, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Sam (Hannah) Nelson, Webster City; Mrs. Anton (Kate) Jenssen, Humboldt. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
