Mrs. Flora Townsend Dies; Buried Sunday

Britt - Funeral was held at the Methodist church at Britt Sunday for Mrs. Flora L. Townsend, 77, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Raymond Swaney, northwest of town, Church services were preceded by rites at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Townsend at Britt.

Mrs. Townsend was the wife of Alexander Townsend who died in 1927.

She was born at Otley, March 16, 1866, daughter of Joseph and Charlotte Mortimer. She was married to Mr. Townsend in Dallas county and later moved to a farm near Rockwell City, then to Hancock county where they acquired considerable land.

In 1919 Mr. and Mrs. Townsend moved to Britt and turned the farm over to J. M. Townsend, a son.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. H. O. France (Marguerite) of Rockwell City, James M., who is manager of the hemp plant at Britt, and Mrs. Raymond Swaney (May) of Britt.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. F. F. Robinson. The Boughton funeral home was in charge. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Britt.
