Services Held On Monday for Lars Johnson, 96
Sister Dies 3 days Later at 106
Lars Johnson, well known citizen of this community passed away May 11 at the home of his son, Hans, at Farmington, Minn.
Mr. Johnson was the son of Leonard and Mary Johnson. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on Jan. 3, 1866, he was the youngest of eight children.
At 21 years of age, he came to the United States and settled in the Garner community.
On July 10, 1890, he was married to Christine Anderson. They then moved to the Britt community where they resided on a farm for a number of years. Later they moved to Britt where Mr. Johnson resided until his death. He had attained the age of 96 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Blessing the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were five children: Hannah, Hans, Alvin, Lyman and Leo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away Aug. 9, 1954, six brothers and sisters.
Tina, who lived in Denmark and passed away at 103 years; Fred, who was 98 at his death; Mrs. Marie Anderson; Mrs. Anne Anderson; Mrs. Jennie Larson; and another brother, Urine.
His only surviving sister, Mrs. Mammie Chase of Belmond passed away May 14, 1962, at the age of 106 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Hannah, Mrs. Harry Stromberg; and three sons, Hans of Farmington, Minn.; Lyman, San Francisco, Calif.; and Leo, Webster City, as well as 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and 11 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Evangelical Free Church with Osman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and Rev. M. D. Lundell, in charge of the services, Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery.
