Farmer, Ill, Hangs Self in Corn Crib

Corwith - Lewis Galloway, 46, committed suicide by hanging himself in a corn crib at his farm home, a mile north of here Tuesday night.

The body was found at 10 p.m. by his son, Milton. Mr. Galloway did not come into the house after he had done his customary night chores and members of the family went to look for him, the son finding him a short time later.

Mr. Galloway had been in ill health and was despondent. He was to have gone to an Iowa City hospital Wednesday for an appointment.

Persons close to Mr. Galloway said he brooded considerably over destruction of crops by hail last spring. He operates a half section of land.

Surviving are his wife and 3 children, Milton, Lois Jean and Dewey, also his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Galloway of Corwith. A brother, Clarence, lives at Corwith.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed Wednesday morning.
