MRS. C. W. ZEIGER
DIED SUNDAY, AUG. 5
BURIAL HERE TODAYGARNER, HOME OF DECEASED
DURING DAYS OF CHILDHOOD
AND EARLY WOMANHOODMrs. C. W. Zeiger passed away at a Fort Dodge hospital Sunday afternoon, August 5, after an illness extending over a period of more than a year. A short time previous to her death, she was taken to the Fort Dodge hospital from her home in Humboldt.
Many Garner people will remember the deceased. Her maiden name was Minnie Cooper, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Cooper, for many years prominent citizens of this community, both of whom are now deceased.
She was born March 14, 1880, hence had passed her 54th birthday March of this year. When a very small child she came with her parents to the Garner territory. Her father improved the acreage later known as the Barnes or Elling farm, an early day show place on highway No. 18 about one and one half miles west of Garner.
She grew to young womanhood in Garner, attended our schools, and on the first day of October, 1901, was united in marriage to C. W. Zeiger, brother to our townsmen, M. N. and Frank Zeiger.
Following her marriage she and her husband resided in Garner for sometime, but later made their home in various north Iowa towns; Forest City, Clarion and Humboldt being among them. During her late illness, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zeiger has been at Humboldt.
She is survived by her husband and one son, Monroe, now 15 years of age.
Funeral services were held at Humboldt this (Wednesday) afternoon. The body will be brought to Garner for burial in the Cooper lot. The Rev. J. B. Pollock, pastor of the local Presbyterian church will be in charge of the burial service.
Mrs. Zeiger's remains are expected to arrive at Concord cemetery at 5 o'clock this afternoon.
