Aged Man Passes Away
George Piplow, who for many years has resided in Orthel township, died at the home of his daughter. Mrs Nick Hauptly, April 3d. He was born in Germany in the year 1827.
In 1864 he came to America, settling in the east. He later moved to Illinois and still later, in 1883, came to Hancock county, Iowa.
Mr. Piplow was married in Germany in 1852 to Miss Louise Bostian. Mrs. Piplow died Oct 28, 1897.
Seven children were born to the Piplows, six girls and one boy. One child died in infancy and another three years ago. Those left to mourn their father are Mrs. John Schroeder, of Illinois: Mrs. W. C. Miller, of Britt; Mrs. W. D. Struss, of South Dakota; Mrs. Nick Hauptly, Mrs. U. S. Fox of Wesley.
Deceased was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church.
Funeral services are being held today, (Thursday) from the home, Rev. Mitter of Titonka, having them in charge.
Remains will be interred in Orthel cemetery.
