ABSTRACTED OBITUARY from Forest City Summit, Jan. 1, 1959
Ralph J. Smith, 83, died at his home in Woden Friday.
He was born Oct. 12, 1875 in Bath township near Mason City.
Surviving are his wife, Bertha, 3 children, Mrs. John (Anna) Boelts of Woden, Ralph M. Smith of Woden and Henry Arthur Smith of Denver, Colo.
Services held in Woden.

Dies at Woden; Rites Pending
Woden - Ralph J. Smith, a retired farmer and former president of the Woden-Crystal Lake Telephone Co., died at his home here Wednesday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be Monday or Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Woden. The Rev. John Jacklin will officiate. Burial will be in Bingham Cemetery with Boughton Funeral Home, Britt, in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. John (Anna) Boelts, Britt; two sons, Ralph M.Smith, Woden and Henry A. Smith, Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two half-brothers and a half-sister.
