ABSTRACTED OBITUARY from Forest City Summit, July 21, 1960

John C. Van Laven [VonLaven], 77, died recently at Woden. Born July 23, 1883 in Chicago. Married Anna M. Brandt in 1907. Moved to Woden in 1917, operated a Produce business and harness & shoe repair shop.

Survivors are his wife, son, William A. of Owatonna, 3 daughters, Mrs. Anna Sparks of Chicago, Mrs. James (Viola) McCarthy, Ilion, N. Y., Mrs. Herbert (Lillian) Williams of Chicago, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a brother, Arthur of Chicago.

Services at St. John's Lutheran church, Woden with burial in Bingham township cemetery.
