1908-1987Services for Gladys B. Frick, 79, of Britt, who died on July 28, 1987 at the Hancock County Hospital in Britt were held July 31, 9:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James A. Mattson officiating.
LeAnn Buns, organist, accompanied the congregation in the singing of hymns. Ushers were Paul Smith and Don Dallman.
Casket bearers were Bernard Kunkel, Robert Artes, Harold Wallen, John Burgardt, Wilbur Crone and Donald Kraus.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, with Ewing Funeral Home in charge.
Gladys B. Frick, daughter of Gunder and Andrea Anderson Gunderson, was born February 10, 1908 on a farm near Belmond. She graduated from the Belmond High School, then attended the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Gladys taught school in rural Wright County for twelve years.
On August 22, 1936 she was united in marriage with Carl Frick in Belmond. The couple lived in the Belmond area until 1942 when they moved to Britt.
During WW II she was chairperson for the Junior American Red Cross in the western half of Hancock County where there was 100% participation from the rural schools. She retired from teaching in 1947.
Gladys was very active in community affairs. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and a member of the First Lutheran Church of Britt where she assisted the confirmation class, and was a member of the Sara Circle. She was also a member of the King's Daughters and the PEO Sisterhood. Gladys enjoyed golfing and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son.
Gladys is survived by her husband Carl of Britt; a son Ford of Britt; and two brothers, Ernest Gunderson of Berkeley, CA, and Gaylord Gunderson of Warroad, MN.
