Lifelong Resident of Hancock County Dies; Rites to Be Thursday
Garner - Funeral services were to be held Thursday for Charles Ax, 85, lifelong resident of Hancock county who died Tuesday. The Rev. R. D. Stuebbe was to officiate at 1:30 p.m. at the Bohn funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the Zion Reformed church. Burial in Concord township cemetery.
Charles Frederick Ax was the son of Frederick Ax and his wife Christina. He was born in Ell township.
On March 23, 1904, he was married to Miss Lena Zwald. To this union were born 2 children, Faith, who died in 1930 and Richard who resides on a farm near Ventura.
Mr. and Mrs. Ax lived on a farm in Ell township until 1920 when they moved into Liberty township. In 1940 Mr. Ax and his wife moved to Garner.
Mr. Ax has been in ill health for about 15 years and 2 years ago his health became such that he required constant care. He was recently cared for at the Hancock county home.
Mr. Ax is survived by his widow and one son, Richard of Ventura; 2 brothers, William and Herman of Garner; 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Wacker, and Emma of Garner, and Mrs. Minnie Sandersfeld of Latimer.
