Crystal Lake Merchant Dies Suddenly at Home
Crystal Lake - Andrew Nelson, owner of the Nelson general store for more than 30 years, died here Saturday afternoon at his home. He was in ill health for the past few years. He became seriously ill Tuesday.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Rolf Rasmuson, and Miriam, both at home, and three sons, Morton who is in the army, stationed in Florida; James of Crystal Lake, and Wilbur, in the navy, located on the west coast; also four grandchildren. His son-in-law, Rolf Rasmuson, also is in the navy.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

L. A. Nelson, 70, Dies At Home
Recently Observed His 30th Year in BusinessCrystal Lake - Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Lars Andrew Nelson at the Methodist church with the Rev. Miriam Hotchkiss in charge, assisted by the Rev. C. B. Mitchel of Titonka, a former local pastor.
Mr. Nelson was born Dec. 29, 1873, in Sweden. He came to this country with his parents at the age of seven when the family located near Albert Lea, Minn.
In 1898 he came to this community where he operated a creamery south of Crystal Lake for two years. In the fall of 1899 the creamery was moved to Crystal Lake and he continued to operate it for eight years. In the summer of 1908 he left the creamery business and became proprietor of a store. He continued its active operation with his sons, until his health failed. Before retiring he observed his thirtieth anniversary as a merchant.
Mr. Nelson was united in marriage to Mary Larson April 4, 1900. To this union five children were born, all of whom are living. Mr. Nelson died at his home Saturday afternoon, June 5, after a lingering illness.
Those surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Nelson, his five children, Helen, Mrs. Rolf Rasmuson, who resided at home, Morton of the army air corps of Tampa, Florida, James of Crystal Lake, Wilbur of the United States navy located at Long Beach, Cal., and Miriam at home; also four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. C H. Simmons of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. E. L. Larson of St. Paul, Minn., and one brother, Nels Nelson of Albert Lea. His father, mother, one sister and two brothers, preceded him in death. Burial was made in the Crystal cemetery.
