Perl Benson Funeral Held at Crystal Lake
Crystal Lake - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Perl Benson, 56, who died Saturday in the woods near Ross Lake, Minn., where he and his wife were visiting.
Mr. Benson was born January 20, 1890, the son of Samuel and Mary Benson, near Gifford. He was married to Rose Ladd of Iowa Falls April 6, 1915, near where they lived on a farm for two years, then moved to a farm near Crystal Lake where the family resides.
Survivors are his wife, Rose, son, Vernal, and daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Quisling and four grandchildren, a sister, one brother and one half brother.
The Rev. Gerhard Hjelmaas had charge of the service held at the Crystal Lake Methodist Church. Burial was in the Crystal cemetery. The Hansen Funeral Home of Forest City was in charge.

Obituary
Perl Martin BensonPerl Martin Benson was born at Gifford, Iowa, January 20, 1896, a son to Samuel and Mary Benson. Some of his early life was spent at Crystal Lake, later the family moved to Minot, N. D., where they homesteaded on year. The family later lived in Garner and Cedar Falls. At the latter place Mr. Benson met the lady that became his wife.
Rose Ladd of Iowa Falls and Perl Benson were married April 6, 1915. The couple lived in Crystal Lake for a time and then went to farming on a farm northeast of Crystal Lake, which had since been the family home.
In passing, Mr. Benson is survived by his wife; a son Vernal Benson who lived on the home place, and a daughter Cheryl (Mrs. Clarence Quisling) of Forest City. There are four grandchildren; Josine and Bruce Benson, and Juli and Pamela Quisling, all of Forest City. Two children preceded their father in death. Mr. Benson is also survived by a brother, Ray Benson,and a sister, Mrs. Leatha (Otto) Larson, both of Forest City, and a half sister, Mrs. Mabel Schreck of Roland.
