John Miller

GARNER - John Miller, 90, Garner, died Sunday (Jan. 3, 1982) in a nursing home here.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner, with the Rev. Merlin Petersen of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. Visitation is after I p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; three sons, John of Woden, and Leroy and Edward, both of Belmond; two daughters, Mrs. Les (Sarah) Mattoon, Britt, and Mrs. Felix (Mary) Garcia, Belmond; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Henry (Sophia) Radmaker, Titonka; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Dirksen and Mrs. John (Edith) Hauth, both of Freeport, Ill.

Services for John Miller, 90, of Garner, who died Sunday at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner were held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with Rev. Merlin C. Petersen of St. Paul's Lutheran Church as officiant. Casketbearers were Dick Formanek, A.W. Rensink, Bob Hanse, Robert Randall, Ben Harrings and Walbert Mayland. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

John Frank Miller, was born August 4, 1891 in Ogle County in Illinois to Jacob and Agnes (Penning) Miller. He moved to the Titonka area where he worked as a tiler. He married Susie Thoren and they lived and worked in the north Iowa area for many years. His wife died in 1943. He later married Marjorie Branstad at Garner. They lived in Hayfield until he went to Concord Manor to live in 1977. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his children, Mrs. Lester (Sarah) Mattoon of Britt, John Miller of Woden, Mrs. Felix (Mary) Garcia, Leroy, and Edward all of Belmond; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Henry (Sophia) Radmaker of Titonka. 14 grandchildren
