Rites Wednesday for Aged Britt Resident

Britt - Funeral services for Mattison Swaney, 82, were to be held Wednesday afternoon at the Boughton funeral home with the Rev. William Butler officiating. Burial in the Evergreen cemetery.

Surviving are the widow and the following children: Mrs. Clarence Jacobsen, Glenwood, Minn.; Mrs. Ed Bedford, Wesley; M. L. Swaney, postmaster at Garner, and Elmer D. Swaney, Britt. There are 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Mr. Swaney was born at Eureka, Cal., Feb. 25, 1867, son of James and Amanda (Garner) Swaney. He was married to Miss Martha Conaway Feb. 26, 1887, at Mt. Pulaski, Ill.

They moved to Iowa 36 years ago, farmed for 25 years then moved to Britt where Mr. Swaney worked for Dr. C. B. Wilson, veterinarian, until his retirement. He had been in failing health for several years.
