Griesemer Of Garner Buried
Funeral Services Held at St. Boniface Church for Businessman.
Garner, Aug. 21 - Funeral services were held this morning at St. Boniface church for Henry Griesemer, businessman, who died Friday. Mr Griesemer had been in failing health the past two years.
Mr. Griesemer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Griesemer of near Richfield, Washington county, Wis., was born Dec. 10, 1854, and grew to manhood there. He was one of a family of seven children, having two brothers, Andrew and William, four sisters,Elizabeth, Margaret, Katie and Mary.
Mr.Griesemer came to Garner in 1878 and for a couple of years worked at the shoemaker trade with Gotlieb Haes. On Nov. 11, 1880 he was married to Justina Mayer at the farm home east of Garner and to this union three children were born, Katherine, Paul and Allie. Katherine and Allie preceded their father in death.
In 1881, he started a shoe store in Britt. On account of ill health, he gave up the shoe business and moved to a farm northeast of Garner, known as the old Kuehner farm which he farmed for a couple of years. Then he moved to Garner starting the present harness business there, which has been in continuous operation approximating 50 years. Surviving are his widow, Justina Griesemer, Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Griesemer, four sisters, Elizabeth Hohler, Mrs. Katie McCabe, Miss Margaret Griesemer, all of Milwaukee and Mrs. Mary German of Mason City.
