Britt Grocer Dies at 72; Rites Thursday

Britt - H. R. Brooks, 72, a retired grocer, died Monday at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital. He had been in business here 40 years. He was born in Wisconsin, Jan 1, 1882, and came to Britt 45 years ago. He was married to Margaret Hanson in 1909.

Mr. Brooks was a member of the Rotary Club, of the town council, treasurer of the Methodist Church here 40 years and a member of the school board 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Render, Aurora, Ill.; two sons, Merrill, Lima, Peru, South America; Lowell, Lombard, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Ted Nelson, Mrs. Edna Nelson and Mrs. G. A. Borland.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church preceded by a prayer service at Osman Funeral Chapel, Britt, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Warren Taige will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
